Chilean frozen blueberry exports rise 52% year-over-year between September and January to 7,200 tonnes, data shows

LOS ANGELES , February 21, 2012 () – According to the latest figures by the Chilean Blueberry Committee, the nation’s frozen blueberry exports rose 52% year-over-year between September and January, Fresh Fruit Portal reported Feb. 21.

Figures during the period show that shipments reached 7,200 tonnes with an average of 760 tonnes a month between October and December, but with an increase to 2,800 tonnes in January.

Meanwhile, fresh blueberry exports during the week of Feb. 6 declined compared with previous weeks due to rainfall in the south of Chile during the week of Jan. 31.
