Wells Timberland REIT was today honored by the Georgia Department of National Resources with the Forestry for Wildlife Partner Award. Presented by Georgia governor Nathan Deal, the award was made in recognition of Wells' commitment to helping enhance the Department's wildlife conservation initiatives on the REIT's forestlands.
The voluntary annual program, which is administered by the Wildlife Resources Division of Georgia's Department of Natural Resources, promotes the integration of wildlife conservation into forestry practices and land management.
Leo Wells, president of Wells Timberland REIT, accepted the award at the state capitol in Atlanta before an audience of timberland industry peers, also gathered to attend the Georgia Forestry Association's "Forestry Day at the Capital".
"We are honored to be recognized with this important award," commented Mr. Wells. "As conscientious managers of forestland in the state of Georgia, we recognize that we are custodians of our state's natural resources and wildlife for the next generation. Wells Timberland REIT takes this responsibility seriously and is a committed partner of the state's programs to achieve long-term sustainability of natural resources in Georgia."
