German label paper producers had a strong first-half in 2011, but business slowed down in the last two quarters of the year, reported EUWID-Paper on Feb. 6.
Orders were definitely strong in the first six months, but the market took a downward turn in the third quarter and was very weak in the last three months, said producers as they looked back on 2011.
To compensate for the decline in orders, some mills took extended downtime as the year was ending. However, some exceptional situations occurred in which order books were better than expected in November and December, EUWID-Paper reported.
