LOS ANGELES , January 31, 2012 () – U.K. consumers ages 55 and over ate more than £1 billion (US$1.57 billion) of confectioneries in 2011, Just-Food.com reported on Jan. 30.

U.K. consumers ages 55 and over purchased 24% of confectioneries sold in the U.K. in 2011, more than children and teenagers combined, according to Canadean’s latest consumer trends research.

Children and teenagers purchase confectioneries more frequently, which is perhaps why manufacturers target them.
