Canfor Taylor increases Feb. 1 price of 75-bright softwood BCTMP by US$20/tonne, to US$550/tonne in Asia

LOS ANGELES , January 23, 2012 () – Canfor Taylor has announced a price increase of US$20 per tonne for 75-bright softwood bleached chemi-thermomechanical pulp (BCTMP) in Asia, to $550/tonne, effective Feb. 1, according to a company statement today.

The company’s BCTMP mill is in Taylor, British Columbia.

Earlier, two other Canadian producers, West Fraser Timber Co. of Vancouver and Millar Western Forest Products Ltd. of Edmonton, Alberta, separately announced $20/tonne increases for Asia, saying that the $550/tonne price would be for China. Both companies also announced $20/tonne hardwood pulp increases for Asia.

As well, another softwood BCTMP producer, Winstone Pulp International Ltd. of New Zealand, announced a $20/tonne increase for Asia, not specifying its new prices.
