Coors Light overtakes Budweiser as second-best selling U.S. beer; Coors Light sales volume up 0.8% in 2011 to 18.2 million barrels, while Budweiser's sales fall 4.6% to 17.7 million barrels

LOS ANGELES , January 11, 2012 () – Coors Light has overtaken Budweiser as the second-best selling beer in the U.S., The Chicago Tribune reported Jan. 11.

According to Beer Marketer’s Insights, Coors Light sales by volume rose 0.8% last year to 18.2 million barrels, while Budweiser sales fell 4.6% to 17.7 million barrels. Bud Light is the top-selling U.S. beer, having 19.1% of the market in 2010.

Miller Lite had a 7.5% share of the market, good for fourth place, while Natural Light was fifth with a 4.2% share.
