Fire put out at Thilmany Papers mill in Kaukauna, Wisconsin, resulting in minimal damage, no injuries; blaze that started in paper machine's ventilation system under investigation

LOS ANGELES , January 10, 2012 () – Fire crews put out a blaze at Thilmany Pulp and Paper Co.’s paper mill in Kaukauna, Wisconsin, on Jan. 9 that resulted in minimal damage, Post Crescent reported the same day.

The fire was in the paper machine’s ventilation system, which was spread out and hard to get to, according to Assistant Fire Chief Ray Mohr, the Post Crescent reported.

The cause of the fire is undetermined and under investigation.

No injuries were reported, though workers within the immediate vicinity of the machine were evacuated, Mohr said.

Thilmany Papers is a business unit of Packaging Dynamics Corporation, and its products include packaging papers, pressure sensitive papers, and industrial and technical papers, according to the company website.
