Germany-based chemical distribution company Brenntag buys Mexico-based specialty chemical distributor Amco as part of strategy to strengthen Brenntag's position in region; Amco to post about US$20.2M in sales in fiscal 2011

MUELHEIM AN DER RUHR, Germany , January 9, 2012 (press release) – Today Brenntag, the global market leader in chemical distribution, has announced the acquisition of Amco Internacional S.A. de C.V., a specialty chemical distributor headquartered in Mexico City, Mexico. Amco has nearly 30 years of experience in the highly specialized distribution of aroma chemicals, essential oils and food ingredients. Brenntag will benefit from the strong relationships Amco has built with customers and suppliers not just in Mexico, but this acquisition will also open the door to businesses with Amco’s multinational customers in other countries.

Peter Staartjes, President Brenntag Latin America stated: “The acquisition of Amco Internacional will strengthen Brenntag’s position with a sophisticated portfolio of specialty products and services in the region. Furthermore the cross selling synergies of Brenntag products to Amco customers is an important aspect for the future strategy in this market.”

Amco Internacional, a family owned business, is an experienced flavors and fragrances raw materials distributor in the region. Amco differentiates itself in the marketplace by selling most of its specialty chemicals under its own brand name and specifications. In 2011 the company will generate sales of about 20.2 million US Dollar. Ricardo Amper, Managing Director of Amco Internacional will continue to lead the operational business of the company.
