Germantown, Wisconsin-based Great Lakes Packaging Corp., a value-added manufacturer of corrugated packaging and display products, has been bought by Arbor Investments of Chicago for an undisclosed amount, reported BizTimes Daily on Jan. 5.

Great Lakes Packaging will become part of a packaging group held by Arbor Investments that includes Franksville, Wisconsin-based Midland Packaging & Display, which has a design and warehouse center in Lemont, Illinois.

The two companies offer products that in combination will “enhance manufacturing capabilities … to provide greater service to their customers,” said Sieg Buck, operating partner at Arbor Investments and CEO of the firm’s packaging platform.

The goal for the coming year is to expand both companies and to grow, he said, BizTimes Daily reported.

Great Lakes Packaging, which has affiliates in Madison, Wisconsin, and Chicago, will continue to operate “as usual,” Buck said, adding that both of the company’s locations will continue to run and all of its 125 employees will be retained.

Great Lakes Packaging serves customers in various market segments in the Midwest and throughout North America.

The acquisition is “an outstanding fit for Great Lakes,” as Arbor Investments brings its “knowledge and experience in the packaging and display industry,” said Glen Arnold, former owner and chairman of Great Lakes.

The deal is expected to add “significant value to the company and help drive continued growth,” he said, reported BizTimes Daily.

Great Lakes Packaging supplies corrugated and plastic corrugated containers, point-of-purchase products, foam and specialty packaging, fulfillment and contract packaging and related services, according to its website.

Midland Packaging & Display indicates on its website that the company makes corrugated packaging for industrial and consumer uses, as well as foam and specialty packaging and point-of-purchase and point-of-sale packaging.

Arbor Investments is a buyout firm focused on investments in the food and beverage industries, according to its website.
