MUNICH , January 4, 2012 (press release) – Dr. Wolfram Seidemann has been appointed with effect from January 1, 2012 to the Management Board of Papierfabrik Louisenthal GmbH, where he will be taking over as CEO. In this position, he will be responsible for the Product Management, Marketing, and Sales units of the technology company based in Tegernsee/Germany, a subsidiary of Giesecke & Devrient (G&D). This appointment sees Seidemann taking over from Michael Böhm, who retired at the end of 2011, but who will still be active for the company in a consultative capacity.

Louisenthal today enjoys an outstanding position in the market and is a recognized leader in technology. The company owes this position above all to Michael Böhm and his innovative ideas. Numerous features of banknotes such as their counterfeit protection, durability, and machine readability are incorporated in the actual process of producing the special paper and constitute the basis for their secure and efficient circulation in the cash cycle. “Wolfram Seidemann has been successfully engaged for many years in the international banknote business and is an experienced expert when it comes to matching G&D’s integrated technology portfolio to the requirements of our customers”, says Dr. Walter Schlebusch, Member of G&D’s Management Board responsible for the Banknote business unit, commenting on the change at the top of Louisenthal.

Seidemann studied Electrical Engineering and did a doctorate in Economic Sciences. He embarked on his career at G&D in 1999 as Head of Management in International Research and Development. After various sojourns abroad in managerial positions, he returned to Munich in 2004, where he played a decisive role in developing the Security Features business segment. From 2006 until he joined the Louisenthal Management Board, he headed up the global sales and marketing activities for the banknote processing systems of G&D.

Louisenthal produces at two sites, namely at its Louisenthal facility in Tegernsee and at its facility in Königstein near Dresden in Saxony, and supplies more than 100 countries the world over with banknote paper and high-security foils.
