Hairspray sales in the U.K. have reached a record-breaking
£173 million (US$267.8 million) pounds in 2011, fueled by women wanting to emulate their favorite celebrities' big-hair styles, according to a Mintel study, News Track India reported Dec. 26.
According to experts, hairspray sales are up 14% since 2007 and comprise roughly six in 10 hair styling products sold on the market.
Hair dyes and other styling products are estimated to jump 6% this year, reaching about
£624 million, according to the study.
In addition to hairspray, sales for do-it-yourself perm kits are on the rise, according to the publication.
