LOS ANGELES , December 23, 2011 () – Global Closure Systems' Zeller Plastik has launched Rio 55 mm headstand valve dispensing closure, which is 25% lighter than its current standard, Plastics & Rubber Weekly reported Dec. 23. The product targets the jams and condiments markets.

According to the publication, the closure is available without a valve or with either a two-slit valve, for preserves, or a three-slit version, for chutneys and sauces with fruit pieces.

Drainage features on the closure will aid manufacturers that use water jets to cool hot-fill products.

U.K.’s Premier Foods Group, which launched its Hartley’s Squeezy Jams in the original packaging format in 2009, will adopt the new Zeller Plastik closure for its jam product line.
