B&R Recycling worker killed at the Connellsville, Pennsylvania, facility after being hit by three heavy bales of paper; police and OSHA investigating incident

CONNELLSVILLE, Pennsylvania , December 20, 2011 (press release) – Authorities say a man was killed at a western Pennsylvania recycling plant when three large bales of paper fell on him.

State police in Fayette County say the accident happened at B&R Recycling in Bullskin Township at about 10:30 a.m. Monday.

Police say he was hit by the bales of paper that each weighed between 1,000 and 1,200 pounds.

The Fayette County Coroner's office says Mark S. Fremd was pronounced dead less than an hour later.

Police and the federal Occupation Safety and Health Administration are investigating.
