Florelle Tissue pays US$700,000 for former paper mill in Brownville, New York, plans to reopen site as specialty tissue plant, begin production in April

Florelle Tissue Corp. has paid US$700,000 for the former Brownville Specialty Paper Products Inc., where it plans to restart the previous site and open a specialty tissue production plant in Brownville, New York, Watertown Daily Times reported Dec. 18.
The purchase of the 6.1-acre site was made on Nov. 22, according to records at the county clerk’s office.
Florelle Tissue has secured financing that includes $600,000 in grants and $925,000 in loans from state and local government, in addition to a 75% property tax rebate as part of Empire Zone benefits.
Work on the site was planned for November, and the mill could begin manufacturing paper products by April. According to an article that was carried by Forestweb on Dec. 1, the site will start by producing kitchen towels and napkins followed later by toilet paper and facial tissue.
