Eighty-seven percent of online retailers' standard shipping offers set to expire on or before Dec. 20, says Shop.org

According to a survey by the National Retail Federation’s e-commerce arm, Shop.org, 87% of online retailers’ standard shipping offers are set to expire on or before Dec. 20, Internet Retailer reported on Dec. 13.
In 2010, 86% of online retailers’ standard shipping offers expired on or before Dec. 20.
The survey, which was conducted from Sept. 22-Oct. 14, involved a group of 51 retailers.
The study found that 5.3% of online retailers are planning to offer expedited shipping on Dec. 23.
86.4% of online retailer’s free expedited shipping offers will expire on Dec. 22.
56.3% of online retailers included in the study additionally reported that their budgets for free shipping promotions were larger during the 2011 holiday season than they had been the previous year.
