Coca-Cola Co. announced on Dec. 13 that it is currently working on the next generation of its plant-based material used in bottles, Dow Jones Newswires reported the same day.
Although the company did not disclose its development partners, it did say the material would soon be introduced.
In 2009 Coca-Cola introduced a bottle made with the first generation of the plant-based material, which went into more than 2.5 billion containers last year, about 3% of its volume worldwide.
