WASHINGTON , December 12, 2011 () – The office of the U.S. Geological Survey reported that natural soda ash production in October was 969,000 tonnes, up 9% month-over-month. The agency also reported that ending inventories for October 2011 were 279,000 tonnes, up 4%.

Exports and imports of soda ash in September 2011 were 478,000 tonnes and 6,410 tonnes, respectively. Imports for September were up 19% year-over-year while exports were up 10%.

Finally, apparent consumption was 4% lower year-over-year.
