France-based papermaker Vertaris plans to stop making printing and writing paper, 'mainly' produce recycled pulp; after filing for insolvency in October, company is under six-month observation

December 5, 2011 – Vertaris is discontinuing production of recycled-content printing and writing papers at its mill in France and will focus “mainly” on producing deinked pulp, reported EUWID-Paper on Dec. 5.

The company is currently under a six-month observation period after filling for insolvency in October. Two years ago, it had restarted a paper machine with a capacity of 70,000 tonnes per year.

The mill, which is located in Voreppe, near Grenoble in Isère, France, made 100% recycled premium white ream paper for office use, as well as 100% recycled pulp, according to its website. It also makes some green building insulation materials from cellulose wadding.
