Technology and service company Laserlock Technologies, Inc., which makes systems that protect the security of its clients’ documents and data, filed suit against the WS Packaging Group of Green Bay, Wisconsin, for patent infringement, QSRweb.com reported on Nov. 30.
At issue are more than 1.5 billion Monopoly games pieces that WS manufactured between 2009 and 2011 for McDonald's Corp. LaserLock alleges that WS used its patented technologies in order to protect the game pieces against counterfeiting.
McDonald’s has been issued a federal subpoena regarding the alleged patent violation.
