Ampac supplying Office Depot with paper bags as part of retailer's Greener Office Delivery Service, which replaces paperboard box used to transport orders with paper bags in reusable plastic totes

CINCINNATI , November 29, 2011 (press release) – Ampac, a global leader in the retail packaging market, has partnered with Office Depot’s initiative to offer a Greener Office Delivery Service.

Ampac, a manufacturing leader in paper and plastic shopping bags, supplies all paper shopping bags that Office Depot uses in their Greener Office Delivery Service. The service, offered to all customers, replaces cardboard box packaging typically used to transport orders. Customers will now receive supplies in paper bags protected during transportation in reusable plastic totes.

Office Depot plans to replace approximately 5 million boxes with bags in the initial 12 months of the national rollout. If the Greener Office Delivery Service takes root, the company hopes to replace some 4.5 million pounds of cardboard boxes with about 900,000 pounds of paper. Customers have the choice to opt-in to the program. During the pilot phase, more than 90 percent of eligible customers chose to switch to paper bags.

The Ampac bags are made of 40 percent recycled material. According to Chad Murdock, Ampac’s Vice President of Sales, “The Office Depot Greener Office program gives Ampac the opportunity to showcase what we do best, impacting environmental sustainability, while carrying out our mission to design and deliver packaging products and services that build business for our customers.”
