M-real completes €16M upgrade to the coating section of its Kemi, Finland, paper mill; production to begin in January 2012 for current, new double-coated grades

ESPOO, Finland , November 25, 2011 (press release) – M-real Kemi had two reasons to celebrate in November - its 40th anniversary and the start of a new era in double-coated Kemiart grades.

The M-real Kemi mill first opened in October 1971. In its jubilee year, M-real has invested EUR 16 (USD 21) million to upgrade the coating section at the mill, to help support customers’ businesses with improved higher quality products. The investment was completed in October. Initial results of the production test period for the double-coated products confirm that Kemiart will retain its global leadership in coated white top kraftliners.

Testing will continue until the end of the year. During the transition period, beginning in January 2012, all current grades and new double-coated grades will be produced.
