Style of Melbourne, Australia, welcomes U.S. tariff exemption for strand woven eucalyptus engineered flooring manufactured in China, expects exclusion to improve competitiveness

LOS ANGELES , November 28, 2011 () – Style, a wood flooring company based in Melbourne, Australia, says the competitiveness of one of its products has improved in the U.S. because it has been made exempt from anti-dumping tariff charges.

The company's strand woven eucalyptus engineered flooring is manufactured in China, and was recently launched in the U.S., Proactiveinvestors reported on Nov. 25. Style says the exemption will strengthen the product's competitive position in the U.S. against Chinese engineered wood products.

The exemption follows an anti-dumping investigation launched by the Department of Commerce last November into around 16 million m3 of Chinese multi-layered wood flooring imports, valued at about US$270 million.

The department published its determinations in the the U.S. Federal Register on Oct. 18, imposing countervailing duty rates of up to 26.73% and anti-dumping rates of up to 58.84%.

Style said it was granted an exclusion from the investigation because of the unique nature of its strand woven wood technology.
