Cham Paper Group announced that it has developed a new sustainable soap wrap paper that is 30% lighter than traditional soap packaging.
The new wrap, called Flexcar, treats paper that is 50 grams per square meter (g/m2) with an antibacterial layer that is suited to soap packaging. This compares with the standard 80-90 g/m2 paper that is laminated with polyethylene terephthalate.
The paper was developed in cooperation with a well-known manufacturer of non-food brand products, with the intention of improving the packaging's sustainability.
Flexcar also was made to stand up to the manufacturer’s productivity requirements via its high processing speeds and satisfies its visual and tactile objectives related to marketing.
Privately-held Cham Paper, based in Switzerland, makes specialty papers ranging from 35 to 270 g/m2, used for such purposes as food packaging, base material for release liners and large format posters, according to its website.
