LOS ANGELES , November 21, 2011 () – Sonic Drive-In restaurants in Tigard and Hillsboro, Oregon, have installed solar-powered, canopy-mounted systems, QSR Magazine reported Nov. 21.

Earlier this year, Sonic’s first solar electric system in the Pacific Northwest was installed at its Wilsonville, Oregon, location. The Wilsonville restaurant has produced 17% above anticipated energy forecasts.

Each system can generate approximately 11,380 kilowatts of electricity per year while offsetting up to 8,648 pounds of carbon dioxide emissions annually.
