Yum! Brands dropping efforts to increase use of food-stamp benefits at its U.S. quick-service restaurants following USDA opposition

LOS ANGELES , November 21, 2011 () – Yum! Brands Inc. is dropping it efforts to increase the use of food-stamp benefits at its U.S. quick-service restaurants after the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) voiced its opposition to the practice, Bloomberg reported Nov. 14.

Yum! had previously lobbied state officials in Ohio, Kentucky, Pennsylvania and Florida, urging them to allow food stamps to be used at its eateries.

The USDA has said it doesn't support expanding food-stamp usage at restaurants.
