A Newmarket factory which produces patient information leaflets for leading pharmaceutical companies has just invested in state-of-the-art technology to handle the larger format leaflets required to satisfy the needs of its customers.
Contego Packaging has recently taken delivery of a new Herzog + Heymann M7 Folder to complement its existing portfolio of machines and allow larger sheet sizes to be folded into patient information leaflets. The increase in the size of leaflets is in response to legislative demands for the inclusion of additional information on leaflets and the requirement to increase font sizes to aid legibility.
The investment also enables the company to meet customer requirements for a wider range of sizes in a growing market.
The Newmarket site currently produces over 400 million patient information leaflets per annum.
Contego Packaging was formerly Nampak Healthcare until its acquisition by Platinum Equity earlier this year.
Tina Goodman, Site Manager, said: “This new folding machine will be a major benefit to our business. Not only does it complement our printing presses in terms of leaflet size but it will enable us to meet the growing requirements from our customers.”
Seventy people are currently employed at the Newmarket factory.
Contego Packaging produces cartons for the food and beverage sectors from two sites in the UK and one in Holland. In addition it supplies the pharmaceutical industry with cartons, leaflets, labels and blister pack foils from ten sites across Europe.
