The owners of a Subway new-concept eatery in San Diego have opened a second location in Mission Hills, California, after the first such cafe surpassed sales expectations, QSR Magazine reported Nov. 15.
According to Les Winograd, a Subway spokesperson, the Subway franchise debuted the Subway Café concept in Alexandria, Virginia. Although the concept remains in a test stage, approximately 20 Subway Café stores have been opened.
The California Subway Cafés have both DIRECTV and WiFi. Customers can pick items from an expanded menu that includes offerings from Seattle’s Best Coffee. In contrast to the atmosphere of a standard Subway Restaurant, Subway Cafés have the ambience of an upscale coffeehouse.
