NAPERVILLE, Illinois , November 17, 2011 () – RadioShack Corp. employees will begin selling mobile products and services from select San Francisco OfficeMax Inc. stores starting in January as the office products retailer seeks to increase technology sales.

The initiative, a pilot program, will involve 15 to 20 OfficeMax stores, the Naperville, Ill., company said Wednesday.

Financial terms of the agreement were not disclosed.

OfficeMax is looking at a "range of strategic retail partnership arrangements," that could make stores attractive to customers, said the company's CEO Ravi Saligram. The partnership with RadioShack would complement OfficeMax's technology offerings in the pilot program, he added.

Under the pilot program, RadioShack employees will offer service plans, mobile phones and accessories. They also will assist in selling OfficeMax consumer electronics products and services.

OfficeMax's website offers cell phone batteries and accessories for sale, but no phones.

OfficeMax shares dropped 23 cents, or 4.1 percent, to $5.39 in late afternoon trading, while shares of RadioShack shed 21 cents, or 1.7 percent, to $12.49.
