Pepperidge Farm has decided to expand its Richmond plant that makes Goldfish crackers, a move expected to create 54 new jobs.
Plant manager Vic Mahoney told The Herald Journal of Logan that the company is at capacity for making the crackers.
The expansion is scheduled for completion in 2014. The company expects to invest up to $45 million in capital improvements over the course of the project.
The company also had considered expanding production at its three other Goldfish-producing plants - in Pennsylvania, Florida and Ohio.
The Richmond plant currently produces more than 1 million cases of Goldfish crackers a year for shipment to stores nationwide.
The Governor's Office of Economic Development board authorized a 10-year, post-performance, single-payer refundable tax credit of $475,032 over the life of the project.
