U.S. September production of major plastic resins drops 3.5% year-over-year to 6.2 billion lbs., sales and captive use slide 2.4% to 6.1 billion lbs.: ACC

WASHINGTON , November 14, 2011 (press release) – U.S. production of major plastic resins totaled 6.2 billion pounds during September 2011, a decrease of 3.5 percent compared to the same month in 2010, according to statistics released today by the American Chemistry Council (ACC). Year-to-date production was 56.9 billion pounds, a 0.01 percent increase compared to the same period in 2010.

Sales and captive (internal) use of major plastic resins totaled 6.1 billion pounds during September 2011, a decrease of 2.4 percent from the same month one year earlier. Year-to-date sales and captive use was 56.3 billion pounds, a 0.06 percent decrease compared to the same period in 2010.
