Search result listings and local availability top the list of most influential online marketing tools, in an E-tailing Group Inc. survey of more than 1,000 online consumers this September, Internet Retailer reported Nov. 9.
Other significant tools include the option to receive e-mails from retailers, a display of reviews from friends and family members, options for group buying, such as through Living Social or Groupon, and ads for previously viewed items online. Mobile applications and links to Facebook and Twitter also made the list.
Free shipping, free returns, and a sale section were among a website’s most important promotional features. Other features included coupons, loyalty points or rewards, limited-time only savings, percent-off categories or products. The more you buy, the more you save offers and free gifts with purchase also were mentioned.
