SARATOGA SPRINGS, New York , November 8, 2011 (press release) – The Northeast Biomass Heating Expo today announced it will hold its fourth annual event at the Saratoga Springs City Center on March 21 through 23, 2012. The conference and expo, formerly titled Heating the Northeast with Renewable Biomass, will bring together leaders of the renewable thermal energy industry to explore the potential for real expansion of biomass energy in the Northeast. New program content and targeted outreach efforts are included in the planning of this year's event with the intention of growing conference participation from residential and commercial biomass customers as well as from the broader HVAC industry.

Conference chair Jeff Souther of American Biomass and WoodPellets.com says he is excited to move the conference from the New Hampshire location used for the past three years to Saratoga Springs' larger venue. "The City Center will allow us to grow the conference and invite further participation from those in New York and Pennsylvania who want to learn more about heating with renewable energy," shares Souther.

In the past, the vendor fair has sold out because it could not exceed fifty vendors. The City Center will allow the event to nearly double the size of the vendor fair and will draw interest from municipalities as well as local, state and federal energy agencies considering a switch to biomass heat.

Two years ago, a task force of industry experts presented A Bold Vision for 2025, a call to revolutionize thermal energy consumption in the six New England states and New York. The Vision outlines how 25% of all thermal energy requirements in the Northeast can be met with renewable, domestically produced resources by the year 2025. This year's conference will invite members of the industry to report on the progress of this Vision, including public policy efforts, fuel and technology advancements, and market updates.

Souther says that the deadline to submit abstracts for presentations is December 1, 2011. "One of the greatest strengths of this conference is its diversity - we see representatives from wood pellets, from chips and logs, from energy crops like switch grass. I would encourage anyone with a story to tell to submit an abstract." Souther discloses past speakers have represented industry quality controls, supply chain management, manufacturing and jobs creation, public policy development, and environmental interests.

"The fact is, this is a rapidly growing industry that has the potential to create 140,000 jobs in the Northeast in the next 15 years, while reducing oil and fossil fuel consumption and saving us billions," says Souther. "If you're part of this industry, we want to see you in Saratoga Springs in March."
