Shell Singapore and Singapore-based Ellba Eastern, a JV between Shell and BASF, both end force majeure on styrene monomer supplies, effective Oct. 31, according to a spokeswoman for Shell, Platts reported Nov. 4.
The spokeswoman also said Shell will be resuming normal supply to fulfill its contracts, and will be working with the few customers that will continue to be affected by the force majeure.
Ellba declared FM at its 550,000 tonne/year SM plant at Jurong Island, due to an unknown cause. Since March, the plant, which has been experiencing difficulties throughout the year, has seen three FMs declared.
Following a September fire at Shell Singapore’s 500,000 tonne/year Pulau Bukom refinery, a FM was declared at the company’s 350,000 tonne/year SM plant at Jurong Island on Sept. 30.
