Mall operator Simon Property Group sues state of Indiana, hoping to force it to collect sales tax on Indiana residents' purchases from Amazon.com, which suit says total in the hundreds of millions of dollars annually

LOS ANGELES , November 4, 2011 () – Simon Property Group Inc. is suing the state of Indiana, hoping to force it to collect sales tax from Amazon.com Inc., Bloomberg reported Nov. 3.

In a statement, the mall operator said it was not seeking monetary compensation, but fairness to brick-and-mortar retailers. It says that Amazon's annual sales in the state are in the hundreds of millions of dollars and that the state has ignored requests to collect taxes.
