VANCOUVER, B.C. , October 28, 2011 (press release) – Dr. Roslyn Kunin, Chair of the Board of Directors of the Haida Enterprise Corporation (HaiCo) announced today the appointment of Kevin Ainsworth as the company's first Chief Executive Officer effective December 1. Mr. Ainsworth will also be joining the Board.

"We are very pleased to have Kevin with HaiCo as his key strengths in business and finance, a strong background in the forest sector and involvement in bio-energy, will lead our company in achieving success in many areas" said Dr. Kunin. Mr. Ainsworth has an MBA in marketing and finance as well as a forestry degree. He served as Senior Vice President for a major BC wood products company and comes to HaiCo with 22 years of business experience. "Kevin has a solid record of working with and understanding First Nations perspectives and has demonstrated a good knowledge of protocol and cultural sensitivity" noted Dr. Kunin.

"At this time I also want to acknowledge the very significant contributions of Thomas Olsen, our Managing Director who has been with HaiCo since April 2009, just prior to its inception. Thomas built the foundations of HaiCo and is responsible for its achievements to date. Thomas shepherded the complex negotiations to conclusion for HaiCo to acquire Tree Farm Licence 60 in Haida Gwaii, set up our forestry business and engaged quality staff to get the company's operations underway. As well, he provided strong leadership in our recent acquisition of West Coast Resorts and engaged personnel to initiate our seafood aquaculture operations. Thomas will assist in the transition of Mr. Ainsworth in his new CEO role" said Dr. Kunin.

HaiCo is a company owned by the Haida people and its mission is to generate a diverse, functioning and sustainable economy on Haida Gwaii for the long term well-being of the Haida people and culture. Currently the company's business portfolio includes a major coastal forestry operation, hotels and lodges in the tourism sector, a seafood aquaculture operation and planning for wood based bioenergy production.
