Korsnäs releases kraft paper Korsnäs Wave that is formable, stretchable, made from 100% virgin fiber, FSC- and PEFC-certified, recyclable; product suitable for upmarket shopping bags, other types of packaging

GAVLE, Sweden , October 28, 2011 (press release) – Korsnäs Wave is a unique paper material with special tactile qualities that opens up opportunities for brand owners to differentiate their packaging in a very special and unique way.

Korsnäs Wave is an extremely highly formable and stretchable kraft paper with a very special tactile touch. The paper is typically used for upmarket shopping bags, although it is also suitable for other types of packaging. For environmentally conscious brands, Korsnäs Wave is an appropriate packaging material. It is made of 100 % virgin cellulose fibre. Wood is a renewable source of raw material – for every tree harvested, three seedlings are planted. The material can be recycled; fibres can be reused up to six times. Further environmental credentials include FSC and PEFC certifications, which verify that the wood used can be traced back to responsibly managed forests.

Korsnäs Wave is a stiff and strong kraft paper product with singular tactile qualities. It is a hardwearing material, resistant to tearing and abrasion. In spite of its wavy surface texture, it is highly suitable for four-colour printing and image prints in flexo and offset.

Italian converter GPS is a company that gladly recommends Korsnäs Wave. “We use more than 1,200 tonnes of sack & kraft paper from Korsnäs per year,” says Daniele Grotto, the company’s founder and owner. “So it is fair to say we have a great deal of experience of that material. Korsnäs Wave is a paper that we are very fond of, for the sake of the appearance and the feel but also for its elasticity.”

Korsnäs Wave is available in grammages from 120 to 200 gsm. The most common applications include shopping bags, gift packs, exclusive consumer packs and substitutions for plastic.
