The Austrian packaging producer Greiner Packaging International is strengthening its network through an acquisition in Leresti (60 km to the north of Pitesti), Romania. Willi Eibner, CEO of Greiner Packaging International, comments: “The relevant contracts have been signed”. Greiner Packaging International is already represented in Romania – with a facility for Division K (containers and FMCG packaging) in Sibiu. The recently acquired location in Leresti is intended to be adapted and developed for the Division Greiner Assistec (technical parts). Eibner is pleased to say: “This fundamental step towards expansion is significantly strengthening our market coverage and competitive position”.
Versatile technological portfolio
Amplast has established itself in the areas of foil extrusion, foil thermoforming, and injection molding, and has an in-house tooling shop. In 2010, the Romanian stock corporation achieved annual sales of EUR 7.06 million and employs a workforce of 227 employees. To date, it was owned by a group of private owners.
Greiner Assistec’s network is getting even stronger
Since the takeover by Greiner Packaging International, production at Amplast has not changed. The location Leresti complements and strengthens the network within the Division Greiner Assistec. The long-term goal is the development of a local market for technical products made from plastics. Secondly, the new location offers an attractive alternative for labor-intensive offers from international customers that have so far been supplied preferably from the Far East. Utmost secrecy is observed with respect to the purchase price.
