Tokyo-based Asahi Kasei reports temporary suspension of operations plastics plant in Ayutthaya, Thailand, due to flooding

TOKYO , October 17, 2011 (press release) – The effect on affiliated companies of the Asahi Kasei Group due to flooding in Thailand is as follows.
 
 
1. Physical effect
 
      At present, no personnel of subsidiaries and affiliates located in Thailand have been harmed by the flooding. The effect on operations is as follows.
 
      1) Asahikasei Plastics (Thailand) Co., Ltd. (Hi-Tech Industrial Estate, Ayutthaya)
 
            Operation of the plant has been suspended due to flooding. The state of damage has not been confirmed as the premises are currently inaccessible. We will announce further details as circumstances permit.
 
      2) PTT Asahi Chemical Co., Ltd. (Bangkok and Map Ta Phut Industrial Estate, Rayong)
            There has been no direct effect from flooding thus far.
 
      3) Thai Asahi Kasei Spandex Co., Ltd. (Sriracha, Chonburi)
            There has been no direct effect from flooding thus far.
 
      4) Asahi Kasei Spunbond (Thailand) Co., Ltd. (Sriracha, Chonburi)
            There has been no direct effect from flooding thus far.
 
      5) Kyokuyo Textile (Thailand) Co., Ltd. (Bang Phli, Samut Prakan)
            Production was suspended from October 13 to 17 as a voluntary precaution. There has been no direct effect from flooding thus far.
 
      6) Asahi Kasei Trading Co., Ltd. (Bangkok)
            There has been no direct effect from flooding thus far.
 
2. Financial effect
 
      An announcement will be made promptly in the event that a material impact is anticipated on consolidated financial results of the Asahi Kasei Group.
