Softwood lumber exports from Sweden fell 7% year-over-year in July to total 0.988 million m3, Euwid reported Oct. 13.
The 619,500 m3 exports to European buyers stayed relatively unchanged from last July’s 617,900 m3, but exports outside of Europe saw a 17% decrease, falling to 359,300 m3.
According to the Swedish Forestry Association, pine lumber dipped 3.5% to 364,500 m3, while spruce fell 4.1% to 207,000 m3.
Year-to-date exports have surpassed 2010 levels by slightly below 2%, Euwid noted, but exports for the full year are expected to record a slight minus.
