October polymer-grade propylene contract prices for the Mexican domestic market rose 5% from September, Platts reported Oct. 13, citing a Pemex source.
Polymer-grade propylene prices were about US$1,755 per tonne free on board following the increase.
According to the source, Pemex’s contract price rose slightly despite U.S. propylene prices showing declines due to the weakness of Mexican currency against the dollar.
Pemex reported its steam crackers were operating at 90% capacity this week, and expect those rates to increase to the regular rates of 95% in the next few days. Three of the company's crackers went into emergency turnaround three weeks earlier due to problems related to flooding.
