FDA enters into cooperative interagency agreement in hopes of improving national food safety program

In an attempt to improve the national food safety system, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has entered into a cooperative interagency agreement, FoodProductionDaily.com reported Oct. 12.
The FDA will work alongside the Association of Food & Drug Officials (AFDO) under the Alliance for Advancing a National Integrated Food Safety Cooperative Agreement Program.
The aim of the alliance is to apply long-term improvements to the national food safety system through interagency collaboration and new surveillance and protection programs for manufactured foods.
The alliance would also provide assistance on legislation.
