October 12, 2011 () – Oil rig operator Transocean Ltd. says no oil is leaking from the site of the Deepwater Horizon oil rig that exploded last year.

Oil sheens were reported in the area last month. Transocean says a detailed underwater examination by it and the Coast Guard over two days last week confirms there is no oil leaking from the sunken rig or the pipe that linked it to the well head.

The company also said on Wednesday that the inspection did not find any oil in the water.

Transocean released a Coast Guard statement saying it agreed that there was no sign of a new release of oil.
