Smurfit Kappa Group Plc has manufactured a new ONDI (fluting) shelf-ready pack for Sainsbury's Supermarkets Ltd.’s sliced cheese ranges, which will take the place of the previous vacuum formed plastic tray with corrugated pack, reported Packaging News on Oct. 5.
The new shelf-ready pack has been certified by Forest Stewardship Council and Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification in 2010, said Sainsbury’s Smurfit Kappa retail project coordinator Adam Clark.
The new pack will reinvigorate the product, Clark said, adding that “poor presentation was the result of lackluster design.”
According to the company’s website, Smurfit Kappa manufactures retail ready packaging, including shelf ready and promotional packaging and displays.
