Wal-Mart de Mexico's September sales rose 12.4% to 29M pesos; Mexico stores open more than a year record 4.2% yearly sales increase

MEXICO CITY , October 7, 2011 () – Wal-Mart de Mexico, SAB de CV (WALMEX) informs its shareholders and the investing public in general that during the month of September 2011, sales were $ 29.077 million pesos, a figure which represents an increase of 12.4% over sales the same month last year.

Sales Mexico

Mexico's total sales increased 13.4% over sales the same month last year. The store sales, ie considering all units with more than a year in operation, recorded a 4.2% increase over the previous year.

Considering the 5-week period runs from August 27 to September 30, 2011 and compares with the four weeks ended October 1, 2010, total sales increased 12.5% ​​and comparable store sales registered an increase of 3.3%.

The average ticket at our stores during the month of September recorded an increase equal to 3.2% units and the number of transactions grew 1.0% over the previous year.

Central Sales

In the case of Central America, total sales excluding the effects of currency fluctuations increased 3.5% and comparable store sales registered an 0.7% decrease.

Corporate Social Responsibility

In September, Wal-Mart Stores launched an initiative that will leverage the global size of the company to promote the development of women throughout their supply chain. Walmart of Mexico and Central America will work with social organizations to train farmers in high poverty and integrate them as providers through its program of sustainable agriculture.

In Mexico, the company was recognized for its contribution to reducing emissions of greenhouse gases (GHG) emissions and operating costs of transportation through its Backhaul reverse logistics system. This occurred in the context of the Clean Transportation Program presentation of SEMARNAT.
