Tembec announces US$20/tonne October NBSK pulp list price reduction for North America, to US$950/tonne; Asia price to remain at US$830/tonne

LOS ANGELES , September 29, 2011 () – Tembec Inc. today announced that it is lowering its October list price of northern bleached softwood kraft (NBSK) pulp by US$20 per tonne in North America, to $950/tonne.

This follows plans by some other major producers, led by Canfor Pulp LP on Sept. 26.

Like Canfor Pulp, Tembec also announced that it is keeping its Asia pricing unchanged. Tembec’s price in Asia is $830/tonne.

Montreal-based Tembec has a pulp capacity of 1.395 million tonnes per year, including NBSK (650 tonnes/day at its Crestbrook, British Columbia mill), specialty cellulose pulps (320,000 tonnes/year, and high-yield pulps (750,000 tonnes/year), according to the company website.
