South Dakota's hogs, pigs total 1.32 million, up 6% year-over-year as of Sept. 1, USDA says

NEW YORK , September 29, 2011 () – The federal Agriculture Department says hogs and pigs in South Dakota on Sept. 1 totaled 1.32 million, up 6 percent over the year.

Market hogs totaled 1.15 million and breeding stock 170,000 head, both also up 6 percent. The June-through-August pig crop of 908,000 animals was up just slightly from 906,000 last year
