According to a new British study, men spend about 18 minutes per day on personal grooming, the Daily News & Analysis reported Sept. 27.
The finding is supported by the increase of male-oriented ads for personal products that include hair gels, deodorants, fairness creams and hair sprays.
According to Dr. Hemant Mittal, a behavioral expert, it’s natural that men are spending more time on their appearance as glamorous celebrities, such as David Beckham, Daniel Craig and Colin Firth have become major role models.
Dr. Mittal warns, though, that increased attention to personal appearance is more likely to lead to body dysmorphic disorder, an obsession in which someone dissatisfied with their body remains fixated on trying to fix any perceived flaws.
