Washington's Port of Port Angeles loaded 19 log ships this year, surpassing total for past five years; US$1M budget surplus will be used for infrastructure upgrades

LOS ANGELES , September 23, 2011 (Industry Intelligence) – The Port of Port Angeles in Washington has reported a hike in loading log ships this year that has surpassed the total of ships loaded in the past five years, KONP Radio reported Sept. 23.

All of the port’s exports have been shipped to China or Korea, where demand for logs has soared and prices have surged.

Through September, the port has loaded 19 log ships, creating a US$1 million surplus in its budget, according to Executive Director Jeff Robb, who said the money would be invested in upgrading the port's infrastructure.
