TRADA Technology, on behalf of TRADA, has developed a mobile application for iPhone, iPod touch and iPad devices, to be launched at Timber Expo 2011.
Aimed at specifiers and other construction professionals, the App is derived from TRADA's invaluable online timber species database, 'now available in a user-friendly format which can be used offline', said Publishing Manager Jacquie Shanahan. Users can search for timber by common name, availability, durability, use class, colour, density or movement characteristics. They can also find out more about appearance, workability, environmental 'credentials' and other factors which will influence their choice for construction or furniture design.
The new tool is available via the most widely-used App stores for users worldwide and has enjoyed instant take up at home and overseas. It links to TRADA's online directory of member suppliers of hardwood and softwood species. The downloadable package includes a free application featuring 40 commonly used wood species and a paid-for application featuring 140 wood species, priced at £4.99. A similar application for Android Smartphone users is likely to follow in 2012.
Alternatively, visit the TRADA Technology stand C3 at Timber Expo 2011 at the Ricoh Arena in Coventry on 27th & 28th September.
