Accsys Technologies enjoyed a successful day at the Timber Trade Journal Awards as they picked up the Market Development Award 2011, on Thursday 15 of September. The Award, sponsored by TRADA Technology and Timber Expo, honoured the remarkable expansion of Accsys Technologies’ Accoya wood over the past twelve months. Accsys were also shortlisted for the Website of the Year, and Excellence in Marketing Awards.
2011 has been an exciting year for Accoya® wood with an expansion of the distribution network around the world as word about its use and benefits spreads. This increase in demand can no doubt be attributed to extensive external research conducted by independent research establishments such as the Timber Research and Development Association (TRADA) and the BRE (Building Research Establishment) who both concluded that Accoya wood exceeded typical wood coating performance and that its durability gave it a minimum service life of 60 years for window, doors, decking and external cladding.
Paul Clegg, CEO of Accsys Technologies said “We are really proud to have won this Award; a lot of hard work has been undertaken within the business for us to achieve this. These are extremely exciting times for Accsys Technologies; Accoya wood continues to go from strength to strength and new supply agreements mean we now market to most of Europe, Australia, Canada, Chile, China, India, Morocco, New Zealand, parts of South East Asia and the USA”.
Accsys Technologies has also developed the world’s first Tricoya® panel with Medite Europe Ltd. Unveiled at Ecobuild 2010, the Medite Tricoya® panel has been hailed as one of the first true innovations in the wood composites industry in more than 30 years, marking the beginning of the next generation of wood-based panel products. The commercial launch of Medite Tricoya® will be announced at Timber Expo 2011 at the Ricoh Arena, Coventry, on September 27 and 28.

Wood Acetylation is a process which increases the amount of 'acetyl' molecules in wood, thereby changing its physical properties. The process protects wood from rot by making it "inedible" to most micro-organisms and fungi, without - unlike conventional treatments - making it toxic. It also greatly reduces the wood's tendency to swell and shrink, making it less prone to cracking and ensuring that, when painted, it requires dramatically reduced maintenance.
